A little about me! I am a software engineer focusing on game development and production. I have studied for 3 years at the prestigious DigiPen Institute of Technology located in Redmond, WA. DigiPen is ranked the top 3rd university in the world for studying video game development. With a focus on games, teams and the development process DigiPen does everything possible to prepare students for the realities of the video game industry.
I have studied both production techniques and software engineer while at Digipen, personally leading 2 teams on year-long game projects while also leading the game department as the Head (Executive) Producer for over a year. This position put me in charge of over 50 teams, totaling over 150 student developers across many disciplines (software engineering, art, sound design and game design). In addition, the position of Head Producer also allowed me to be the Project Manager for both DigiPen's booths for the 2014 PAX Prime show, leading a team of over 60 students and staff. All of these positions have allowed me to hone my skills in SCRUM, agile, lean and waterfall management styles in software development environments.
Software engineering within the C/C++ languages has been my primary focus. Graphics, algorithm analysis, tools and engine development have been my primary areas of study. Graphically I have implemented 3D game engines both in DirectX 11 and OpenGL 2.0. With my game teams I have implemented 2 from scratch 2D engines and 1 from scratch 3D engine (all in C/C++).
Outside of DigiPen I have worked on Unity tools for node-based, visually scripted dialogue trees and other secondary tools to assist. The tool follows a Model-View-ViewModel design pattern, much like Microsoft WPF. It will soon be available on the Unity Tools Store.
Currently I am working with James Farris on a Unity game called Galactic Conquest, the prototype of which won second place at a Microsoft Game jam.
I also functioned as the head writer and Creative Director for Wizante Studios' Towers of Mountainfall, a discontinued iOS game. I lead the art, web and editing teams in creation of the world, lore and copy of all materials. I also wrote all journal entries for the game, which can be viewed on the website (which has now been taken down, but can still be seen here).
Personally, I'm currently living in the Pacific Northwest, a region of the world I absolutely love. I'm no stranger to travel, however, having lived in Boston and spending time in Luxembourg, where my family is from. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing and camping, but my true passion is the art of the story. Whether in a good book, a video game or writing my own!
